[Life] Memorial Day

I hope everyone had a fabulous Memorial Day weekend! I certainly did. It was so much fun to spend time in Savannah with friends.

We arrived on Saturday afternoon and after checking into our hotel, went to meet our friends Katie and Stephan on the beach at Tybee Island.

We spent a relaxing afternoon jumping waves and playing ladderball.

On Saturday night, we had a fantastic dinner at Sakura Downtown and then went on a bar crawl through Savannah hitting favorites like Circa, Molly Macpherson's, Murphy's Law, and Social.

Hubs, Stephan, Me, Katie
It was a long night. We had a lot of fun.

Too much fun, eh, Stephan?

Sunday we got up and had brunch with K + S at Clary's. Perfectly greasy and just what we needed! For the afternoon, hubs and I headed down to River Street, where we had ice cream and fruity frozen drinks.

Columbo's | Wet Willie's

We sat on a ledge in the walking area of River Street and listened to a steel drum band while we enjoyed our beverages.

(This full length pic is the closest I got to an outfit shot the entire weekend)
After meeting up with some friends, we took the ferry across the river.

Us on the ferry | View from the boat
We had a pitstop at the lounge in the Westin and then hit up the rooftop bar back on River St at the Bohemian Hotel.

We ended up at Churchill's for dinner (mmm fish & chips!) and ended up holing up there for the night. You may or may not be able to tell from the pictures, but it was uber windy. The clouds had looked menacing every now and again, and tropical storm Beryl was heading up the coast. They had called for rain all day Sunday so we were lucky we got away unscathed...until about 10pm when it came down in sheets. That's why we holed up at Churchill's. No one wanted to walk home in that mess.

All in all, a wonderful weekend!

[Link-Up] Trend of the Month

Marion over at the fabulous Marionberry Style has posted a trend of the month challenge. This month's trend? YELLOW! Now, I have always been the type of girl who has shied away from yellow - I'm very, very pale, and yellow generally doesn't work well with my skin tone. However, very recently I picked up a neon-ish plaid button down that I really love!

I wore it for the first time this past weekend in Savannah. We went to brunch on Sunday and then back to our friend Katie's family home. Her parents live in this gorgeous, historic home on a street lined with Spanish moss, so hubby took a picture of me there.

Streets of Savannah, GA
Unfortunately, I'm too far away to really see the outfit, and of course I took no outfit pics on my amazing mini-vacation, so I recreated it for this challenge:

Top - Old Navy
Shorts - Marshall's
Wedges - Shoe Carnival (2011)
Necklace - JCrew via ebay
Watch - Target

Please don't mind the hair. I almost decided to cut this pic off at the neck but then thought, what the heck, may as well show the good (outfit) with the bad (hair). That makes me more real, right? Right?

Yellow has always been a color I've not incorporated into my wardrobe, but as Marion says in her blog today - anyone care wear yellow! It's all about the shade, and if you head on over to Marion's blog, she's got another tip or two for you about yellow!

What do you think of wearing yellow??

[Life] And Other Things...

I sat down with the intent to write a specific blog post but I have other random things to say so I apologize for being all over the place.

I hope everyone had a fantastic Memorial Day weekend!!! I had a great one, spent in Savannah, GA. It was kind of strange - it was mentally relaxing and physically taxing, if that makes any sense. It was so great for me mentally to get away, but since we were walking around so much and constantly doing things (even if those things were playing ladder ball on the beach at Tybee Island or watching a steel drum band on River St), I felt so tired when I got home yesterday. Why does this matter? Because I was hoping to blog yesterday. But I couldn't get my brain to compose anything worth sharing.

As I mentioned on my Saturday morning post, I have a list of 30+ things to blog about. I keep a running tab of ideas/topics/events that I want to share but so many of them require a significant amount of time investment to produce, and I have been busy every single weekend for the last three weekends. Which means, the time when I usually compose those long, well thought out and articulated posts has been sucked up doing other things. And not only is my time being taken up, but the things I'm doing are so fun that I want to share them and are adding to the blog posts!!

So far, I've mentioned I'll blog about:
Mother's Day with my family
My trip to PA last weekend for my friend Em's baby shower
Memorial Day trip to Savannah, GA.

You'll get them.

I promise.

I have 400+ style blog posts to read, too, and it's been that way almost every Monday/Tuesday. It's making it difficult to comment as much as I like.

I'm sorry.

This should be the last weekend, at least for a short bit, where my time will be so fully taken up. So keep an eye out for those posts!

[Life] It's Memorial Day Weekend!

Ok ya'll. Confession time.

I've been so busy this week I haven't had time to schedule posts for this weekend. This makes me sad because I'm usually super into keeping up posts (I mean, I average more than 1 post per day!) and also because I literally have a list of 30+ blog posts that I want to get out.

I'm sorry.

There will be a quotable post tomorrow and that's it. Nothing substantial until Monday.

Hopefully it won't matter since ya'll will be out doing fun things on your long weekend.

Me?

I'll be in Savannah GA and Tybee Island, spending quality time with the husband and our friends Stephan and Katie. If you follow my Instagram, I'll probably have some pics popping up over there.

Me in Savannah, circa 2009
Hope you all have a great long weekend!!!

[Listen] Call Me, Maybe?

This song has been in my head all day.

You're welcome.

This came from Sarah over at Simply Sarah.

Here are her instructions:

You Know You're A Fashion/Style Blogger When . . .

  1. Copy the list below
  2. Paste the list onto a new blog post - and highlight/bold the statements that describe you or show something you've done
  3. After putting up the list, link back to Simply Sarah as the original list
  4. Add any other bullets to the list that you think describe fashion bloggers as well

Lets start this and see how far it gets!

You Know You're a Fashion Blogger When:
- The words "chambray", "gingham", and "ikat" are regular words in your vocabulary
- You know what color blocking means
- You love to shop, and in fact you literally get a high off of sales

- You've taken a picture, ran to the camera to see if you liked it, hated it and tried again
- You've mastered the art of "self-timer"
- Your phone is full of random pictures of yourself (bahahaha this is so true for me and I always feel like a complete idiot when my hubby scrolls through my phone photos cause it's so ridiculous)
- No matter what you're doing, even if you're camping, you wonder how you can take pictures
- You're constantly thinking about content for blog posts - you even write down ideas!
- You've gotten to know bloggers so well you feel like you've literally lived their life for a day (I'm working on this one! lol)
- One word: HTML
- You've pinned outfits on Pinterest to recreate, but rarely ever did
- You've wore outfit you just weren't into, so you skipped the day or wrote about something else
- You comment on blogs with <3 or XOXO, even though you've never met the people
- You feel closer to your blogger friends sometimes than your real friends
- At least one person in your life never knew they'd ever have to take so many pictures of you
- You've mastered at least one pose you use over and over
- You look at your closet and go "I have nothing  to wear" yet you have more clothes than you need
- You know details about blogger's lives, but you don't know their last name.  And you're OK with it.
- You spend your time talking about clothes, fashion, and styling - and people actually care!
- You realize now that blogging is truly a full time career if done right
- Blogging was just supposed to start as a creative outlet, but it's turned into so much more
- You've ever wondered "hey could I do this for a career"?
- You've wasted more time on your computer blogging than you care to admit

[Thoughts] How Short is Too Short?

Hello readers! In today's post, I'd like to start a fashion-related discussion. As the summer approaches, and it gets unbelievably hot here in Atlanta, I start looking towards summer fashion. I am a fan of the jean short, and after seeing both Gwenyth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow Avengers jeans shorts white shirt
In Avengers - sorry the pic is bad, it was the only one I could find

and Teresa Giudice

RHONJ - again, best pic I could find
wear them recently, it got me thinking: how short is too short for an adult woman? Is it different if she has kids?

I turned 30 last summer, and now that a family is in the foreseeable future, I've started to think about the impact that will have on my wardrobe. Frankly, I think both of the above women look fabulous in their shorts - but I still question the appropriateness for those of us who aren't in the public eye. Many might excuse the above ladies because celebrities seem to be able to live by a different set of rules than the rest of us.

As a college gal, I was fit and confident with my body. I could wear short shorts and occasionally lower-cut tops and feel like it was fine, in the right setting. Somewhere along the way, things got bigger and I became super conscious of the neckline cut on every top I own. Mostly because lowcut now makes me uncomfortable. Lowcut tops don't look good on my body any more.

However, short length is another story. I haven't gained an inch on my hips, thighs, or any other part of my lower body. All my weight gain since college is in my middle or higher. I personally consider my legs to be my favorite physical asset, and I'm proud of them. I'm a runner and these legs have taken me a lot of miles in a lot of races and they look like it in a good way. While I've had to adjust the size of the waist on the bottoms I buy (muffin top is not allowed!), I like the way my legs look in almost anything. This makes the line a little blurrier because I still feel confident in shorter shorts. But I am also aware that at 30 years old, short shorts are not necessarily the most appropriate.

I do feel that a mid-thigh length short cuts my long legs in a way that is not the most flattering, so I do try to avoid that length, but that only seems to leave me with the option of short or bermuda length.

What are your feelings on short shorts and age? Short shorts come in many different inseam lengths - 2", 3", 5" - is the line somewhere inbetween? Is there a "too old"? Is it different if you're a mother?

[Life] Ok, Guys....

I'm about to get a little 13-year-old-Twilight-fan-meets-Robert-Pattinson, so bear with me.

I started this blog a few months ago because I was inspired by fashion bloggers and it marries two things I love: clothes and writing. I've been trying really hard to network - not to get readers, but to start conversations with other like-minded ladies around the world.

So, I am about to give a big ol' W00T to 2 somethings that probably aren't a big deal for the rest of you, but made me really feel like my blog is going somewhere.

Firstly,

I got my first media invite. From a PR company.

MOI? MEDIA? Noooooo........

But apparently someone out there thinks I am!!

Unfortunately, the event was last weekend when I was out of town, but it gave me such a thrill to get an email with a "media" invite. (I am so not media, but thanks for the compliment!)

And secondly,

My Summer Essentials post from yesterday was selected as one of the 10 favorite Summer Style posts by IFB at #6!!!

DOUBLE W00T!!! (or I guess that would just be w00t w00t, eh?)

That makes me pretty psyched considering there were 50+ submissions and this was my first one. Yay!

Check it out here!

[Reality TV] Bachelorette

I know this isn't fashion related, nor does it qualify as intelligent conversation, but I will be the first to admit I enjoy a lot of trashy reality tv. If you do not enjoy reality tv, just skip this post.

A big part of it is that I love to check out the fashion on most of the shows I watch but I'd be lying if I denied enjoying the drama. I watch the Bachelor and Bachelorette, all of the Real Housewives franchises, and occasionally any of the Kardashian shows if they happen to be on (this is often the case at the gym - my gym seems to like keeping the TVs on E!). I do enjoy these as much for the fashion as for the "story".

So I'm into the Bachelorette - I don't find this show to be quite as fun as the Bachelor because, let's be honest, the Bachelor has more women and therefore more fun fashion, and of course women are often more dramatic (cue uproar). I was also unsure about this season of the Bachelorette because I'm really not sure how I feel about Emily. Why isn't important. What is important is that I would like to call the final 4, just to have it on record. I may be totally wrong, and that's ok. It will just be fun to see how well I do. :) #1 is my winner, with #2 being dumped on the final, #3 after the fantasy suites, etc etc.

  1. Jef (he's my winner)
  2. Arie
  3. Doug
  4. Charlie (This one was hard to guess. I really think it could be Kalon though I don't want it to be. I would like to see it be Charlie so I pick him over Kalon. My second choice for this spot is Ryan, but I just don't see the chemistry there. I am aware that by throwing out all these options if I'm right with one of them I have minimal bragging rights.)

I'm not planning on posting about the season as it goes, but that's no guarantee that I won't. We'll see if there's anything worth mentioning.

Do you watch the Bachelorette? Who do you think will be standing at the end?

[IFB Project] Summertime Essentials!

This week, IFB is hosting a new project: Summer Style Kickoff. I love summer. It's my favorite time of the year - the days get longer, the weather gets warmer (although here in GA it can be incredibly hot), and most people relax and enjoy some time off.

My favorite thing about summer is going to the beach. As a kid, my parents took my brother and I to the beach for a week every single summer and I lived for that week of swimming in the ocean, eating greasy boardwalk food, and cleansing my soul with that salty sea air. It only makes sense that my submission for IFB's project centers on my favorite summer style: beach essentials!

Here are my favorites:

  1. Scunci wide, thin, textured hair bands. I seriously could not go to the beach without these. I have long hair and the sea breeze tends to blow it all over the place which makes it difficult to see while at the beach, and difficult to brush when I get home. I just put one of these wide, soft headbands on and my hair is out of my face and not snarled; not only that, these look cute, and you can wear them in the ocean without losing them!
  2. A sheer beach coverup. These look chic at the beach and are a great way to coverup without looking like you're trying to hide under layers of clothes. This one here is from Sears. I love the bright colors and busy print - both of which are super stylish this summer!
  3. SUNSCREEN! Sunscreen is the number one most important thing in summer style. I am a firm believer that wrinkles, sagging skin, and sunspots can all be put off simply by wearing sunscreen, therefore by using it daily I believe I will look exponentially younger than everyone else my age as I get older. I'd rather have great skin at 60 than a great tan at 30. And this sunscreen is a fabulous choice - it's light and not greasy at all! I wear Neutrogena Ultra-Sheer Dry Touch Sunblock daily.
  4. A light, sheer, drapey tee. I especially like the stripes as a head nod to the nautical when I'm at the beach. It's the perfect top to pair with a pair of shorts or jeans when you're ready to head out for a seaside dinner, or over a swimsuit if you plan on walking the boardwalk at the day's end. The flowy top, to me, says easy going and relaxed - which are two things you definitely should be at the beach!

  1. A fun, bright beach tote. This one combines prints, which is something that's been really popular all spring. I like the combination of floral and gingham on this tote, and the minty color is very on trend! A printed tote adds a little somethin-somethin to a solid colored bathing suit or coverup.
  2. "Boat shoes" as so many people call them. Even if you're not going on a boat, you can at least look like you are! These Sperrys are one of my favorites.
  3. Cat-eye sunglasses. These are an up and coming shape this summer, and sunglasses are one of my favorite sunny accessories.
  4. Fun, embellished flip flops. Everyone knows that flip flops are a staple at the beach - they're easy to wear and no fuss, which makes them an ideal addition to your beach ensemble. Why not take it a step  further and wear a cute embellished pair instead of the run-of-the-mill rubber? I love the hundreds of embellished options you can find out there right now and I just love the colors you can find!
  5. Baby powder. I know, you're probably scratching your head. And no, this is not just for you ladies with children. Baby powder is the best kept beach secret if you are someone who enjoys the ocean. I always hated the way that the dry sand just clings to you anywhere you happened to have gotten wet. If you're an ocean swimmer, or even just an ocean wave-jumper, you can end up with sand everywhere. And I mean everywhere. The solution, at least for the parts that are exposed at the beach? Baby powder! This stuff will get the sand off with little to no fuss so you can put your shoes and coverup on without getting sand in every seam.
  6. Floppy hats!! Floppy hats have become super popular in the last year, and they are a great way to create a look when you're not wearing much at all. Not only that, I love that these hats protect you from those nasty sun rays I spoke about above - nothing like a second layer of protection against wrinkles or red noses!

Now you know what my beach essentials are....I'd love to hear yours!!

[Life] I Don't Even Have a Post Title

Wow. What an amazing long weekend I had. I went to PA to surprise one of my dearest friends at her baby shower on Sunday afternoon. I couldn't talk about it here because she may have read my blog, but I had an amazing weekend and will post about it later this week once I've uploaded the photos to my laptop.

Now, back to real life. And WOW am I bogged under. I haven't read a single email or blog all weekend; I haven't done a single chore, taken a single outfit picture, or done a single load of laundry. I have so much to do. Yikes! At work I have to prepare specialized training for my course I'm presenting in Toronto in 2.5 weeks. And I'm going away again this weekend. This time with the hubs, to Savannah GA, to celebrate his 3 week intensive "May-mester" being done. So I have to do laundry. And pack. And all that good stuff. By Friday night. Again I say, YIKES!

I'm going to do my best to catch up tonight, but in the meantime, you may see a lack of blog posts. So, in my absence, I will pose a question for you to debate:

What are your best tips for getting amazing outfit photos for your blog?

I have been pondering this as of late. I'm just ok at taking normal everyday pictures. And when I look at my outfit posts compared to every other style blogger out there, they just don't stack up. It's not always the outfit (haha). I'm kind of limited in equipment - I can't spend big money on a fabulous DSLR right now; for the time being I have to stick with my itty bitty Kodak point and shoot camera on a tripod. So, who has some tips for me on improving my photos? Lighting suggestions? Background suggestions? Setting suggestions? Editing tips? (I should say that at this point I know nothing about editing photos and do little more than crop them down before posting them. I don't know what programs are good, although I have Photoshop and find it incredibly difficult to learn. I don't have time for that right now haha!).

Help?! Suggestions!?

[Fashion] Sun Is Shining

Atlanta doesn't really have a winter.

This makes me a bit sad, because I'm a northeasterner and I like the cold. Not for 6 straight months like in some parts of the north, but 3 solid months of cold and a transition month or two would be great. Because I really like scarves and layered cardigans/jackets/coats, as well as cute winter hats and boots.

So you can bet I was pretty excited when we had a week long "cold spell" in Atlanta where I could layer some stuff.
Top - Old Navy (old)
Jeans - James Jeans (old)
Shoes - Target
Scarf - Gifted
Bracelet - Betsey Johnson at Macy's (gifted)

By cold spell I mean it was in the 40s in the morning. Rest assured it was mid-70s by late afternoon so it wasn't completely out of character.

Earrings - Payless (2011)
I have no idea where I got the sunglasses or the headband. They are both at least 5 years old. Have I mentioned I tend to hold on to things??

Aaaaaaaand....a Lexi photobomb.

Have a great week, ya'll!!!

[Fashion] The Pink Dress Revisited

A little while back, I posted about a pink dress I really liked on the hanger but wasn't sure if I loved it on. I brought it home and asked for suggestions on what to try to make it work.

Here's how it turned out:

All I did was add a pair of heels. What do you think? Keep? or Return?

I really was on the fence before this little photo shoot but with the heels, I think it's a keep!! What say you?

[Life] For Your Love

This weekend I'm out of town but of course there are some scheduled posts for you, starting with this one!

Life over the last few weeks....

Sharon and Kevin's wedding

And my super hot hubby...

Afternoons in the sunshine

Random shots ... the slippers my hubby loves but my mom makes fun of, the wonderful world of teaching network architecture, and horrific Atlanta traffic. Yay!

Hope you're having a great weekend!

[Fashion] GASP! An Outfit Post!

As promised!!!

Yet another look with the flowy top and skinny pants. I love this combo. Please, style gods, don't let this go out of style any time soon. :)

Today I decided to go to Old Navy on my lunch break. I've been eyeing this coral sheerish shirt there and wanted to see if they still had it in my size. I went, found it, bought it, and went on my way. Well.

I went back to my office and in my email was this.

Literally timed 4 minutes after the time stamped on my receipt.

Top - Kohl's
Jeans - JC Penney (here in white)
Shoes - Shoe Carnival (2011)

Thankfully I was able to go to the ON by my house and they returned what I bought and re-rang it with the coupon. I saved myself $6.00! Yay! And, the sales clerk said tomorrow their bathing suits go on 40% off and you can still use this coupon which will be 20% off tomorrow.

Enjoy!

[Laugh] Maybe It's Only Funny to Me....

But this week I got my first blog hits from keyword search.

Most made sense.

But somehow someone got my blog by searching for blue+hour+poultry.

HAHAHAHA. WHY is someone searching for poultry, period??!

Thanks to Gentri Lee's poultry question in her 7 Questions Wednesday.

Bahaha I'm still giggling.

And as a bonus, you get one more thing that makes me giggle: this picture of my dog, with her jowls in all their smooshy glory.

Lexi is funny without even trying.

[Thoughts] Housecleaning (Or Brain Cleaning?)

Hello lovely readers! Just a few thoughts for this lovely Friday:
  • I will have an outfit post for you today. (YAY! I can feel your excitement) For being a style blogger, my blog has been lacking that for the past week or so. Frankly, I haven't been taking a whole lot of pictures because I've been playing catch up all week in all facets of my life. I haven't really worn an outfit I'm proud of until today. But I also have a few stockpiled pics along with the ones I snapped today. I'll get some up. Promise.
  • Speaking of today's look - have you ever had one of those days where you wake up and your hair is just freakin perfect?!?! This almost never happens to me, but today it did. I'm ecstatic about it.
Ignore the face. I'm not good at the forced smile, apparently.
  • I was so excited to go to the Sassy City Chicks event last night but my friend who was going with me had to bail last minute. And then another friend who is moving across the country put together a ladies night for last night and I felt that I would rather feed my soul at her apartment than my closet at the Sample Sale. So I won't have a report on that.
  • From yesterday's post....blue it is! I'll be placing my INPink order today and will show you what else I picked in a future post!
  • I'm going on a little weekend getaway this weekend; I can't give too many details right now (I will later) but know that I'm flying to Detroit tomorrow morning on a SEVEN AM FLIGHT. Yikes. I have to be at the airport by 6AM. On a Saturday. And I'm not packed yet. And it's stressing me out.
  • Are there any Torontonites out there? (See how I just made that word up? Or is that really a thing?) I'm going to Toronto in about 3-4 weeks for work, and I'm going to have a free Friday night in the city. I'm also debating the merits of flying home before lunch on Saturday or sticking around and flying back around dinner time so I can do some sightseeing. Are there things worth seeing/doing in the city that I should stick around on Saturday for? Anyone who's been to Toronto or lives there? Bueller? Bueller?
I debated posting this last point because I really don't want to offend anyone. I'm really not trying to do that. But this has been weighing on me a bit and has been my first bit of disappointment in the blogging community since I started doing this last month. I guess I just have to think that most of you reading this don't fall into this category. And I know others have said they just ignore this issue but it's so, so prevalent that it's bugging the crap out of me because it's rude. There's little I dislike more than rudeness.
  • I joined IFB this week. It's done amazing things for my blog traffic, and welcome to those of you who got here from there! If you are enjoying my blog and you came here from IFB, this next part is NOT about you
    • Warning: <rant> I'm not sure how many of those coming to my blog from IFB are actually reading it. I had no idea it was going to be like this when I joined. For those of you also on IFB, you should know what I'm talking about. A thousand messages and more than half of them just asking you to follow their blogs and not really caring at all about yours. I actually had someone stop by my blog, then send me a message about liking a particular post, but then followed it up with "let me know if you follow my blog - then I'll come follow yours." Shouldn't you just follow it if you like it and not follow it if you don't? Why is your following me contingent on me following you? Yes, blogging relies on give and take, and if you approach me and my blog in a genuine way, I'll probably follow you regardless of whether you follow me, but so many of these messages are disingenuous and these bloggers have no interest in you or your blog unless you "do them a favor" by following them. I want people to follow me because they like my content, not just to make my numbers look good. I'll take 10 active followers over 1,000 who never actually read a word. You don't really seem like a nice, caring, friendly person when you send those messages. And I really, really like nice, caring, friendly people best. </end rant> To those of you who came over here from IFB and are enjoying my blog - thanks!! I hope I blog well enough over time to keep you coming back. :)
    • (In keeping with my goal of trying to put myself in others shoes, I can see how people would just want numbers to beef up their blog. I just don't feel the same and I have put in my IFB profile that I'm not interested in that kind of thing. But apparently no one reads that. And since they still insist on pushing their agenda without care for mine, I feel I'm allowed to rant. :)  )

So....I think that's it for now. I'll have an outfit post up later today. I know you'll be waiting with bated breath.

[Shopping] YOU Decide!

Ok, folks. A little while ago I won a $40 INPink giftcard giveaway from the lovely Erika Marie over at Fashion Chalet. Now I'm getting ready to make my purchases. However, I'm stuck. There is a bracelet that I like, in three colors, and I can't decide which color! (And you can't say all of them because I can't justify 2 or 3 of the same bracelet!)

So....vote! Do you like the pink....

The orange....

[Quotable] So True

[Caution] IT Geek at Work...

Hey guys,

You've probably noticed my new blog design as of yesterday. Yay!

However, I don't have the comment reply working yet. I'm currently trying to fix this. I really like to reply to everyone who has been so kind as to stop by and comment on my blog! So....

Bear with me and hopefully this will be fixed soon!

[Link Up] 7 Questions

It's time again for Gentri Lee's 7 Questions!!

1. Are you a thrift shopper?
No. I really, really would love to be but I find I don't have the patience. Also, I tend to be a bit skeeved out by the scent that accompanies most thrift stores. I know this is ridiculous but it's true.

2. You just had a very bad dream, what do you do?
Wake up scared and make sure it was actually a dream. Then toss and turn for the next 30 minutes because whatever image scared me so much comes back every single time I close my eyes.

3. What is your favorite flavor of Ice Cream?
I have to pick just one!?! I love ice cream! Let's see....I'll go with Phish Food.

But I also love anything cheesecake!

This is the one we ALWAYS have in our house because my hubby loves it...

We actually get the Cupcake Party one - but this is the only pic I could find.

And I would just love to get my hands on a chocolate ice cream that has peanut butter swirled in! (Someone please tell me where I can find this!!!!) When I have a hankering for that, I settle for this:

Hmmm...think I like ice cream???

4. What do you do with your money? (spend it, save it, invest it, bury it, etc)
Oy. I do a little bit of each. A certain amount goes into retirement investment each month. Saving goes by the wayside as long as the emergency fund and school fund for hubby stay at a certain amount, because we're trying to pay down debt. But it's always a painful fight to not spend money because man do I love to shop. There. I said it.

5. What was the last quote or statement you heard that really hit you?
Hurt people hurt people. It was in a blog this morning when a mother was writing some words of wisdom for her daughter. It was referencing bullying, talking about how those who bully do so to hide/retaliate/deflect from their own insecurities and pain. I think that can be applied to our adult world too - people who are mean, speak ill of others, or judge without knowing are often trying to cover up their own insecurities, and I try so hard to remember that each day. I've been judgmental in the past (and who hasn't?) and I don't want to be - I make it a point each day to try and put others' comments in perspective and to not talk badly about others just because I'm insecure about me. This was a great question! Here is the full post if you want to check it out!

6. What do you do when you're driving alone? (ex: dance, sing, listen to talk radio, etc)
In the morning I listen to talk radio. Kind of. Seriously, I generally hate talk radio but the Bert Show (which is in Atlanta, Nashville, and Indianapolis!) is ridiculously entertaining. Check it out here! When it's not a weekday morning, I am definitely that person in my car singing at the top of my lungs. And I really, truly don't care who sees. I'm having more fun than anyone who wants to look at me funny!!!

7. Did you watch the premier of Bachelorette? If so, who was your favorite bachelor?
I did not watch it yet. I do have it on my DVR. Hubs and I watch the How I Met Your Mother/2 Broke Girls/Mike & Molly lineup (yes, you'll notice 2.5 Men is missing because we think that show is awful and have thought that for years), so I always have to DVR the girly Monday night shows - The Bachelor, Bachelorette, Dancing With the Stars, and Gossip Girl. (Hehe yes I watch GG). I tried to watch the premier of the Bachelorette last night while going through my RSS feed but I wasn't paying enough attention and after 30 minutes I realized I had no idea what had even happened to so I turned it off. I'll get back to you on my fave once I actually have time to watch it!!

[Fashion] If It Kills Me

So I wore this outfit last week and debated.....

Hat?

(excuse the ridiculous facial expression and meathead stance)

Or no hat??

I've been trying to incorporate more hats into my wardrobe but I have so many casual ones that I have trouble making work. I ended up choosing to not wear the hat. Do you think it worked?
